Namaste and welcome to another week of mindful moments!
August 10
Do you find that you start a routine, and it goes well for a few weeks, and then it becomes less consistent? That is a bit of a challenge for me lately. I feel challenged to put aside daily to share these mindful moments. And I find I have also been challenged to be consistent in my daily physical exercises. So today, I am working with Elk medicine: Stamina. I know that connecting with Elk medicine alone will not cure my stamina challenges. But, paired with a little rest, and then action, Elk will support me to improve it!

When you are scrolling through Facebook, watching TV, or just going about your day, do you find certain themes popping up? For me, it’s been the reminder to have fun. Yesterday, I wrote a wee bit about elk medicine and stamina. After seeing things from various sources yesterday and today, it is really sinking in how fun can really help our stamina. It’s easier to keep on keeping on when we are having fun with it. As I try to do my daily physical exercises, I decided to continue certain ones that are helpful for my spinal health, and from there, just have more fun with it (the Just Dance video games have some good music…). And same with these mindful moments (the fun part, not necessarily the music part). I find that I have fun finding pictures that seem to match the resonance of the post content. There are days I find I spend more time looking for pictures than I do writing the post. Porcupine medicine reminds us to temper the seriousness and chaos of our lives by doing things that bring us child-like delight.

Are you trying to get to know an oracle or tarot deck? Looking for ways to practice your intuition?
A great way to do both those things, is to draw a card for yourself regularly. I admit I got out of the habit of doing this. But last night, my guides told me to draw a Medicine Card (this animal oracle deck is by Carson and Sams), connect with the animal’s message intuitively, read what the book says, and set it next to my bed as I slept. I find it funny (porcupine medicine) that the lizard card leapt out of the deck. Lizard reminds us to pay attention to our dream state. Are we getting a balanced amount of sleep? Are we honoring the messages our dreams are bringing through? This led to a very interesting lucid dream. Thank you lizard.
Here is the lizard card.

Isn’t it interesting sometimes to empty a purse after a few months (or longer) of “collecting” things? I emptied mine today in preparation for a trip I’m taking next week. Purses and wallets symbolize our identity. I took out the things that will bog me down. But I also added some “just in case” items. Today I also started packing my shaman bag, to prepare for a ceremony on my trip. Preparedness is associated with squirrel medicine. So, I’ve been connecting with squirrel as I try to mindfully pack. Squirrel shows us how to gather in a balanced manner.

Do you find yourself need? The past few weeks have been interesting in my household with appliances breaking down, car issues, computer problems, and such. It can stretch a household thin financially. In times like these, I incorporate rituals and prayers into my spiritual practice to attract abundance.
I regularly fire up my crystal grid for my home location. It is an antakharana grid, with crystals, a piece of paper with my street address on it, a candle, and whatever else I feel guided to put on there. These grids direct energy from the objects (such as the crystals) and our intentions, to the address on the paper.
So, to encourage financial abundance, I might add some herbs to my grid. Some herbs that can attract abundance are Patchouli, cinnamon, and bay leaf (just to name a few). Before I light a tealight candle, I pull the candle out of the metal thing around it, put a drop of essential oils, or sprinkle bay leaf pieces in it. I put the candle back in. And then I light it. That way the oil isn’t running off the candle and onto other stuff. Sometimes I use Young Living’s Abundance blend. Sometimes I use a Money blend from my friend Heidi at
Here is a picture of the candle pulled out of it’s tin, and the oils I use.
I would like to add that Heidi is the most knowledgeable person I know in the realm of herbalism, and ayurveda. I love her salves as well.

Are you turning into one of those people who “has a crystal for that?”
Sometimes I feel drawn to use particular crystals or stones for purposes. To attract abundance, I might use citrine in my grid.
And here’s a picture of a stone (I don’t know what kind it is) that has a natural little hole in it. Once in a while I put a drop of the Abundance oil in it. I place this stone in a front window of my porch in the front of my house, to symbolically “collect” abundance. This was inspired by the teachings of Scott Cunningham, a renowned Wiccan teacher.

Do you feel abundant when you are able to “make do” with resources at hand in a pinch?
A resource that we always have at hand is prayer. Along the vein of attracting abundance posts… I’ve got a prayer for that! As I exercise, I use the mantra “life is rich and so am I.” I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to how many times I repeat it. I just say it for as long as I am sustaining a pose (like the plank), or a repetitive action (like cycling).
And also, another thought on making do with the resources available to us. There’s a saying that I hold in my heart, that “necessity is indeed the mother of invention.” Sometimes a need arises for tools that aren’t readily on hand, or available to us. However, we can take stock of what we do have, and find ways to make it work for us towards a new goal. For example, I use a mantra from Rev. Kari Chapman for abundance. We repeat 25 times “I have more money than I will ever need.” It can be a challenge to mentally note 25 repetitions. At the time I found this mantra, I didn’t have beads, or the money on hand to buy them. So, to help keep track of the repetitions, I made my own prayer bead type thingie (pictured here). I had some yarn, so I crocheted this chain with 25 large bumps. When I am crafty like this, it helps me see and appreciate the abundance that’s already around me.
This week
Thank you for checking out my mindful moments! As I have mentioned briefly throughout a few posts, I am preparing for a most excellent adventure. On Thursday, I am embarking on a road trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park with a group of shaman, led by Rev. Kari Chapman. We intend to do ceremony to anchor a city of light, help heal Gaia Mother Earth, and promote geophysical stabilization.
So, over the course of the next 7 days, I am not sure how much I’ll be posting on social media, aside from the occasional meme. Perhaps I’ll share some pictures of my journey. We’ll see where the Universe guides me 🙂

I am terribly sorry some of the pictures may be turned sideways. That is a problem to solve next week.
