Namaste! Oh my, it’s been almost a year since I have posted a blog. My intent is to post content more regularly. This week on my Facebook page, I started posting daily mindful moments. I recognize that not everyone has access to them. And perhaps it could be nice to have them all in one place. So, I will try to post a weekly compilation. Here are my first four!

I feel guided to write and teach more. Particularly about connecting to nature, and finding our peace during this challenging times. Here’s a mindful moment.

One of my methods, is by observing the wildlife around me. From the little spider in my window, to the birds at my bird feeder. They all give us information on how to find balance. Today, I saw a sparrow at my bird feeder. According to Ted Andrew’s “Animal Speak Pocket Guide,” sparrow says to “remember your nobility.” And to take a moment to meet your own needs.

Do household tasks sometimes feel daunting? Sometimes I find that I start doing dishes, with the mindset of “oi, I wish I could (fill in the blank) instead.” And then, I stick my hands in the water. I meditate on its cleansing, and nurturing nature. Connecting to it as an element. As I clean each dish, I think of it as an act of love, for myself and my family. Food and eating, represents spiritual nourishment. So as we wash our dishes, we are maintaining our tools that facilitate our spiritual nourishment. We are sanitizing them, making them safe. We could even choose to look at the types of dishes we are washing. I associate womb shaped dishes, like bowls, cups, and pots, with the divine feminine. Knives and forks remind me of the divine masculine. Some of my dishes have special meaning to me. Especially my pyrex measuring cups from my grandmas. I feel connected with them when I use and wash these items. And do you ever find a stray little bubble of dish soap floating off into the air? Or maybe it’s just me lol. I relish those little miracles. Bubbles are symbolic of creation. So in a way, as we are cleaning our tools, we are creating a fresh beginning for new creations.

I could go into so many more details with this. But as you mindfully do dishes, what are some aspects that you meditate on?

This picture below is my pile of clean dishes. Basking in the air.

We’ve got a lot of changes happening on the spiritual level, in regards to personal and planetary transformation. It isn’t out of the norm for some people to feel scattered, disconnected, fuzzy, stuck in their head, or like they aren’t on earth any more. In other words, they aren’t as grounded as they could be ๐Ÿ˜‰ While it sometimes feels nice to not be grounded (like an escape from earthly density), it really isn’t always in our best interest. I have a tendency to hurt myself in the kitchen when I’m not grounded. The good news, is there are some wonderful tools to help us ground! One of my favorites is coffee. On a side note, I sometimes face a window, and raise my cup (like giving a toast) and pray to the Divine “what I brew today, I brew for you.”

Some other grounding foods are root vegetables (potatoes, carrots), and chocolate.

A very grounding crystal that I’ve been wearing for a few years, is bronzite. It also helps to balance one’s feminine and masculine energies.

There are also lots of different prayers and meditations. Sometimes I just picture my soul floating down into my body. And then I focus on the feeling of my feet on the floor. I allow myself to connect with the energies of Gaia mother Earth.

Pictured below is my favorite mug. I love the symbolic balance of the coffee (which grounds me to earth), cradled by the universe (represented by the constellations).

While we cannot always control the energy around us, we do have a response-ability for our own energy. I do my best to start each morning with a few prayers. This is the first in a series I’m sharing on Youtube!

Much gratitude to my dear friend Rev. Kari Chapman at Namaste Healing Center for granting me permission to share it.
